New Online Banking Security Feature
What It Is
SCCU is dedicated to protecting you and your account information from falling into the wrong hands. We are implementing a new security feature within Online Banking, called Identity Verification, which uses questions to validate your identity before allowing access to your accounts.
How It Works
This extra layer of protection will require a one-time enrollment and will only take a few minutes to complete. When you login to Online Banking, you will be prompted to create a set of security questions with answers that only you will know. The next time you are prompted to answer a question, your answer must match the answer you set up initially before you can proceed to your account information. A feature of the Identity Verification protection is that, over time, your "typical" patterns will be known, and you will only have to answer security questions under certain circumstances, such as logging in from a different computer or conducting an unusual transaction.
Please note that participation in Identity Verification is a regulatory requirement, so this will not be an optional feature.
When This Feature Will Be Available
Beginning in February, a request to enroll in Identity Verification will appear when you log in to Online Banking. Enrollment will be completed in stages, so you may not receive a request to enroll for a few weeks after we begin the process.
How To Get Started
- Select 5 different security questions.
- Enter an answer that you will remember for each selected question.
- You are now enrolled.
Secure Login for Joint Accounts
If there is a joint owner on your account, you should set up separate username and password for that individual. Learn more about Family Banking.
